Chamber hosting candidate forum
The Newnan-Coweta Chamber of Commerce will host its Candidate Forum Aug. 7 at the Central Educational Center in Newnan for the opportunity to hear the positions and platforms of those running for Georgia House of Representatives District 71.
This event is free and open to the public.
Questions will be vetted by the Voice of Business Committee to ensure fairness.
The chamber will not take a position for or against any candidate.
Amazon to open regional facility
Amazon will open a new fulfillment center in Gwinnett and DeKalb counties, creating 1,000 new jobs.
Amazon will lease a built-to-suit building, which will be developed by Seefried Industrial Properties, and cover acreage in Gwinnett and DeKalb counties. Employees at the approximately 700,000-square-foot facility will pick, pack and ship customer orders. In addition, Amazon will hire for roles in human resources, operations management, safety, security, finance and information technology.
