PEACHTREE CITY - The Northgate Lady Vikings were eliminated in the Region 5-AAAA Softball Tournament late Thursday, dropping a 4-1 decision to the Sandy Creek Lady Patriots in the loser's bracket at the Meade Athletic Fields.
Earlier Thursday, the Lady Vikings qualified for the AAAA state sectional tournament with a 5-0 win over Douglas County.
In action late Thursday, the Lady Vikings first defeated the Alexander Lady Cougars 11-4 as Forrest Skelton pitched a four-hitter and Liza Dye had three hits.
Sandy Creek then defeated the Lady Vikings in the nightcap to end Northgate's chances in the regional.
A recap of the Alexander and Sandy Creek games will appear in Saturday’s print edition of The Times-Herald.
