FROM STAFF REPORTS

sports@newnan.com

The Heritage School Hawks put it on cruise control Friday night and rolled to a 41-0 victory over Central Fellowship in GISA football action.

With the victory, the Hawks improved their record to 4-0, the first four-win start in the short six-year history of the program.

Next week, Heritage School faces its biggest test of the year when it hosts undefeated Valwood.

Heritage School took control of the game early, building a 28-0 lead by the end of the first half.

Candler Rich, the school's all-time leading rusher, only touched the ball twice, but finished with 80 yards and two touchdowns.

Rich gave the Hawks the early lead when he scored on a 15-yard run in the first quarter.

He then came up with a big play from the defensive side, picking off a pass and returning it 30 yards to set up Heritage School's second touchdown.

This time quarterback Joe Bonner found the end zone, scoring on a 30-yard option run. Bonner ended the night with 34 yards rushing.

Rich then made it 21-0 when he returned a 75-yard punt for the score with 5:59 remaining in the first quarter.

The Hawks' junior got into the scoring act one more time when he found the end zone on a 69-yard run. It was Rich's longest run of the game.

Heritage School set up its next touchdown after Bonner hit Brad Macke on a 35-yard pass and Rich on a 27-yard strike.

Bonner did the rest, scoring on a short run for a 35-0 lead.

Will Duke then added the final score of the game on a 25-yard run.

Duke finished with 25 yards on three carries. Bonner was 5 of 7 for 70 yards through the air.

Heritage School had also had late interceptions from Trevor Sawyers and Ben Dudley.

Sawyers finished with 32 yards rushing from the offensive side.
