The Heritage School Middle School boys basketball team left no doubt that it was the most dominant team in the Metro Atlanta Christian Athletic Conference.
And it only took one quarter to prove the Hawks' perfection for the second year in a row.
On its home floor Saturday, Heritage School nearly outscored Loganville in the first quarter with a 21-point effort, building a double-digit lead and getting everyone involved in a 40-22 victory to capture the MACAC championship for the second consecutive year with an undefeated record.
Head coach Lynn Huffsticker's lineup, which finished 17-0, once again did it without suffering a loss and improving the program's record to 36-0 during the two-year span.
Chase Evans connected on a pair of 3-pointers and Cole Jones tallied eight of his 12 points in the first-quarter surge that left the Hawks well ahead 21-4 after one quarter.
AJ Gainwell had five of his eight points by the end of the first period and starter Logan Betts also got on the scoreboard with two points. Maddux Jeffreys controlled the glass at both ends, helping hold Loganville to just seven points in the first half.
Eight more Hawks came off the bench to pace the effort, contributing nine points and key minutes. Jay Macke had four points and Hamp Smith and Haydon Stanley each finished with a pair. Chris Troung also got in to the scoring, while Tom Pattiz, Ryan Blackstone and sixth graders Hays Burns and Hunt Thomas also helped maintain the Heritage School lead.
The Hawks led comfortably 26-7 at halftime and 34-10 heading into the fourth quarter.
