Middle, Lower School teams win openers

The Heritage Hawks Middle and Lower School football teams enjoyed season-opening victories last week.

The Middle School team knocked off Loganville Christian 26-8, while the Lower School rolled to a 34-0 win over Harvester.

In the middle school contest Henry Arnall showed he could throw and run the ball en route to the win.

Arnall connected with Branch Burns on a 15-yard touchdown pass and also rushed for two scores. Arnall also hit Peter Nell on a 2-point conversion.

Heritage and Loganville were tied at 8 at the half before the Hawks’ offense poured it on in the second half, with Arnall scoring his two touchdowns and Patrick Griffies added a score on a 50-yard run when he took the handoff and ran unstopped around the right end.

Arnall and Griffies also helped on the defensive side with an interception apiece.

Sam and Jake Martin and Thomas Crymes led the defensive side in tackles.

Lower School 34, Harvester 0: Banks Coggin scored three touchdowns and Andrew Rich and Sam Rhodes added one apiece en route to the Lower School’s season-opening win over Harvester.

The Hawks led 28-0 at the half.

Fourth grader Mack Mirko penned Harvester back deep throughout the game with long kickoffs.

Ellis Coggin had several long runs for the Lower School during the game to keep the clock rolling and the chains moving.

Defensively, the Hawks were led by Aubrey Frames, Steven Slappy and Jay Chapman with one sack each.

Both teams head to rival Trinity Thursday night.
