Trinity defeats McIntosh; Lady Vikings sweep in Columbus

Trinity Christian's volleyball program entered this season with three consecutive GISA state championships.

But the Lady Lions may have made just as big a statement on Thursday by knocking off defending GHSA Class AAAAA champion McIntosh during a tri-match at Sandy Creek.

This year, a GHSA school can schedule no more than 20-percent of its regularseason competitions against GISA schools. Trinity Christian, which also hosts Sandy Creek later this season in addition to having scheduled matches against Landmark, Whitewater, Holy Innocents and Troup.

The Lady Lions defeated the Lady Chiefs 25-19, 20-25, 25-23. Trinity's squad also battled Sandy Creek in a 22-25, 21-25 loss.

NORTHGATE SWEEPS: The Lady Vikings continued their strong start on Thursday while sweeping Veterans and a strong Columbus program on the road.

Northgate improved to 9-2 overall while bouncing back from a loss against Northview (23-25, 21-25) on Tuesday during a tri-match with North Springs. The Lady Vikings defeated North Springs 25-14, 25-16.
