EC, Northgate lineups drop non-region contests
It’s been a busy week already for East Coweta soccer teams. After falling to Parkview on Monday night, both the boys and the girls teams lost Tuesday to non-region opponents.
East Coweta’s girls fell 2-1 to Allatoona, while the boys dropped a 3-2 contest to Lulla on penalty kicks.
It’s the seventh time this season the boys (8-9) have lost a game by one goal.
In girls action, East Coweta got its only goal of the night from Serenity Waters.
The Lady Indians (11-5) have already secured the Region 3-AAAAAA title with a 5-0 league record, but still have one more non-region tonight against (10-3) Alexander at home tonight.
East Coweta’s boys had won four games in a row, before falling to Parkview and Luella in consecutive nights.
The Lady Indians went into Monday night’s game against third-ranked Parkview and were shut out for just the second time this season. East Coweta and Decatur played to a 0-0 tie last week.
At Northgate, the defending Class AAAAA state champion Lady Vikings (15-3, 9-1) have lost two straight games, falling to Villa Rica last week and Columbus Monday, both by 3-2 margins. It’s the most goals the Lady Vikings have given up all year after eight shutouts.
Northgate’s boys (9-6, 6-4) hurt their chances to make the playoffs Tuesday night after falling 3-2 at Forest Park in a Region 4-AAAAA game.
McIntosh defeated Starr’s Mill’s boys 3-1 to clinch first place in the region with both Ola and Forest Park owning 7-3 records.
The Newnan girls (9-7, 3-2) go into the state playoffs two straight non-region shutouts over Carrollton, 1-0, and Fayette County, 3-0.
