Heritage swimmers set school records

Swimmers from The Heritage School geared up for Saturday's GISA state meet at Georgia Tech by setting school records and turning in personal- best times at the Deerfield Open at Darton College in Albany.

Heritage added two more state qualifiers in the final meet of the regular season as seventh- grader Lydia Polley and eighth-grader Olivia Gentry each made respective cuts in the 50 freestyle (32.53) and the 50 backstroke (42.15).

Meanwhile, both Hawks senior Tanner Brandner and Lady Hawks eighth-grader Allie Browning improved on school record in individual swims on Saturday with firstplace finishes. Among varsity action, Brandner won the 200-yard individual medley with a new school record of 2:17.31. He was also third in the 100 freestyle (53.81) and fifth in the 50 freestyle (24.34).

Competing among juniorvarsity girls, Browning bettered her school record in the 50 butterfly with a victory in 31.90. She also placed second in the 100 backstroke (34.69) and third in the 50 breaststroke (43.63).

Heritage's varsity boys also picked up three finishes in the top-8 from sophomore Gage Warren. He was second in the 200 freestyle (2:11.76), fifth in the 100 backstroke (1:07.93) and added a personal best of 58.03 in the 100 freestyle while placing eighth.

Other top performances from the Lady Hawks junior varsity swimmers included eighthgrader Ella Lawrence, who was fifth in the 100 backstroke (40.44) and seventh in the 50 freestyle (32.91). Eighth-grader Mili Patel had personal bests in both the 50 freestyle and 50 backstroke The Hawks' junior varsity boys were led by seventhgrader Jack Stanley, who finished seventh with personal best in the 100 breaststroke while also placing ninth in the 50 freestyle.
