Lady Vikings rally past New Manchester

Northgate's girls basketball team evened its record at 2-2 overall by rallying from a six-point halftime deficit for a 58-43 victory over New Manchester in a non-region game on Monday.

The Lady Vikings 13-6 at the end of the first quarter, and 22-16 heading into halftime before rallying over the final two quarters and making the most of 44 free-throw attempts, 20 of which from Ebonee Echols, who hit all of her 16 points from the line.

Lyric Underwood added her third double-double of the year with a team-high 25 points to go with 12 rebounds.

Rose Barrera added 8 en route to the Lady Vikings.

Getting to the free throw line was key to Northgate's comefrom- behind win.

'We are playing hard,' said head coach Matt Trucks. 'We are doing a better job penetrating and getting to the free throw line.'

Northgate returns to action next week in Region 4-AAAAA games at Ola on Tuesday and at home against Union Grove on Friday.
