Northgate to face Whitewater in quarterfinal

The Northgate volleyball team will face a familiar foe Saturday at the Class AAAAA Elite 8 volleyball tournament when they head to Whitewater for a 3 p.m. in match.

The two teams both resume the state tournament out of Region 4-AAAAA.

It will be the fifth time the two teams have met this year.

The Lady Vikings won the two-regular season matchups but fell to the Lady Wildcats twice at last week’s region tournament.

Northgate knocked off Lithia Springs in the first round of the tournament and then beat Houston County Tuesday.

Whitewater defeated Clarke Central in the first round and Creekview in the second round.

It is the fourth time in five years, Northgate has been to the Elite 8.

Saturday’s match will be the best of five to decide who moves on to next week’s Final Four.
