East Coweta, Newnan dominate All-Region teams

After coming within a shot of advancing to this year’s Class AAAAAA soccer championship, the East Coweta boys dominated postseason honors on this year’s All-Region 3-AAAAAA team.


Seven Indians lead this year’s All-Region team including Ian Antley, who earned most valuable player honors.


Antley teamed up with twin brother Conner to lift East Coweta to a unbeaten regular season. The brothers, now on their way to play at Mercer, combined for 78 goals and 21 assists during the 2013 season.


East Coweta’s Todd Beldon was named Region 3-AAAAAA Coach of the Year.


Also earning All-Region honors from the Indians was East Coweta senior goaltender Luke Oesterle, who posted 10 shutouts.


Defenders Ryan Wright (3G, 5A), and junior Austin Slaton (2G, 3A) represented the Indians along with midfielders Jairo Ruiz (2G, 14A) and Zac Slaton (4G, 2A).


Striker Nick Pelerose, who will play at Oglethorpe, led three players from Newnan named All-Region following a senior year where he scored a team-high 24 goals.


The Cougars were also represented by senior defender Kevin Morgan and junior midfielder Connor Cox.


Douglas County has five players selected to the team and Tri-Cities had two.


Joining the Antleys and Pelerose at forward was Douglas County striker Robby Delusma.


Jordan Alexander, Juan Carlos Serna, Ayman Khan and Lysten Thomas also represented the Tigers.


Tri-Cities was representedby Jose Sanchez and midfielder Carlos Cassarrubias. All-Region team.
