Newnan survives in sudden death 3-2

by Staff Reports

The Newnan Cougars are headed to the Class AAAAAA Sweet 16.

They can thank senior Nick Pelerose for helping them get there.

Pelerose scored all three goals Wednesday night en route to a 3-2 double overtime victory over Luella on the road in Locust Grove.

Just when it looked like the game was going to be decided on penalty kicks, Pelerose added the game-winner with less than a minute to go.

The Cougars hit the road next week for a game in Valdosta against Lowndes.

Lowndes beat Kennesaw Mountain 2-0.

Additional information about the game was unavailable at deadline.
