A state football championship could be coming to Coweta County this weekend.
The Heritage Christian Crusaders have a chance to bring home the hardware today with a victory over Ballard of Auburn, Ala., when the two teams  at Young Americans Christian School in Conyers starting at 1 p.m in the Independent Schools of Georgia and Alabama eight-man league.
“This team has done a great job of just buying into the things we have been trying to teach team,” head coach Al Williams said.
It will be the second meeting this year between the two teams. Heritage Christian won the first meeting between the two schools en route to its 9-1 record.
For Heritage Christian, a victory would be the first state championship in football for the school that only started the sport six years ago.

Heritage Christian averages 58.2 points per game, while only yielding 21.7 points per contest.

The Crusaders have generated most of their success with a ground-oriented offense.

Nothing should change now that Heritage Christian is about to play in the biggest game in school history as it looks to get the ball in the hands off two running backs – J.D. Farlow and Austin Reeves.

The two accounted for more than 57 touchdowns. Farlow has rushed for 2,277 yards during the regular season, scoring 33 touchdowns in the team’s first 10 games. Reeves is trying to close out his high school career with a league title after rushing for 1,113 yards and 24 touchdowns.

Defensively, the team has also caused frustration for its opponents. Jared Farlow has seven interceptions and Reeves had five to help pace the defense.

Jeremiah Winkley anchors the defense with 83 tackles. Jesse Parkerson has 64.
