Girls sports teams representing Lee Middle School each came through with championship trophies between Saturday and Monday afternoon.
The Sharpsburg Regional Softball Association’s Middle School League tournament concluded Saturday with Lee’s team outlasting third-seeded East Coweta, 4-3 in the title game.
On Monday, Lee’s volleyball team capped off a three-peat in the Coweta County Middle School Athletic League in improbable fashion. Second-seeded Madras came within two points of victory in the fourth game only to see Lee rally back for a 25-20, 23-25, 23-25, 26-24, 15-10 decision to cap an undefeated season under coach Robert Doyal.
A detailed report of Monday’s Coweta County Middle School Athletic League Volleyball Championship will appear in Thursday’s edition.
Recapping last weekend’s softball tournament, Lee’s SRSA team finished the regular season as the No. 2 seed by way of a head-to-head tiebreaker with defending champions Madras after each posted 8-2 records. East Coweta split regular season games with both lineups finishing ahead of Arnall for third place at 6-4.

Both Lee and Madras advanced to the winner’s bracket finals with respective 8-3 and 3-0 wins over East Coweta and Arnall before the rivals headed in opposite directions.

Lee blanked Madras 3-0 and the Eagles’ chances of repeating as SRSA champions proceeded to fade out in an ensuing 4-0 loss o East Coweta in an elimination game.

Despite being blanked by the Timberwolves, East Coweta rolled through three loser’s bracket games in shutout fashion, blanking Smokey Road (12-0) and Arnall (13-0) before eliminating Madras.

Lee outscored its three opponents 10-3 en route to the SRSA championship.
