Northgate track athletes Toya Jantzen and Kemoy Anderson capped off sophomore track seasons on Friday at the GHSA State Championships in Albany.
Anderson ran a personal-best time of 12.30 in the 100 meters while finishing just outside of Saturday’s final qualifiers.
Jantzen, who set a new school record of 5 feet, 6 inches in the high jump and won her second consecutive county title in the event, was hampered by an ankle injury and failed to clear a height in Friday’s field event preliminaries.
Coweta County will be represented by athletes from all three GHSA high schools at this week’s boys Georgia Olympics in Jefferson. Field events are Thursday, with running qualifiers set for Friday.
In Class AAAAA, seniors Willie Holloway and David Singleton compete for East Coweta in the shot put and 110 hurdles. Newnan senior Jalen Bolton qualified in both the long jump and triple jump events.
Holloway enters with the top qualifying mark in the shot of 52-8 while making a return trip to Jefferson.
In Class AAAA, Northgate’s Adrian Tolbert tied for the top qualifying height of 6-4 and will be joined in field events by junior Alex Anderson in the pole vault.
