The top-ranked Northgate Lady Vikings moved into the losers’ bracket at the Region 4-AAAAA softball tournament at Lovejoy Park in Hampton Wednesday with a 4-3 loss to Ola in a game that was decided by the international tiebreaker.
Northgate was able to salvage a 5-2 victory against Starr’s Mill.

In the loss to Ola, Northgate was paced by Andie Martin’s two RBIs. Katie Burns also drove in a run.
The Lady Vikings did their damage early, getting one run in the bottom of the first and two in the third. Martin’s two-run homer scored Brenna Skalski to round out the third-inning scoring.
Ola added single runs in the second, third and fourth innings to force the tie.
Pitcher McKenzie Peace started on the mound against Ola and allowed nine hits, striking out four and walking three. Peace also gave up a home run to Ola.

Three of Northgate’s five runs were unearned.

The Lady Vikings outhit Starr’s Mill 10-7 and overcame four errors.

Casey Kent and Jenna Pealor had an RBI for the Lady Vikings.
