Newnan, East Coweta lineups monopolize All-Region soccer teams

Newnan and East Coweta dominated the Region 2-AAAAA boys and girls soccer teams.
The Indians placed seven players on the boys all-region team, while Newnan added six.
Newnan junior striker Nick Pelerose was selected as the boys MVP, East Coweta’s defensive specialist Jordan Grant and Newnan’s Rebecca Whitlock shared girls MVP honors.
East Coweta Todd Beldon earned boys coach of the year honors, while Chris Luppens was named girls coach of the year.
Among defenders East Coweta sweeper Jacob Harlan and Ryan Wright added their names to the team. Newnan defenders Brandon Haynes and Anthony Galvan made the team.
Three East Coweta midfelder, Dillon Gallion, Jair Ruiz and Boomer Hayes were named to the Region 2-AAAAA. Newnan midfielders Tyler Heard and Sam Josey also earned a spot on the team.
Joining Newnan’s Pelerose among forwards were East Coweta twin brothers Ian and Conner Antley.
Goaltender Patrick McAlpin earned first-team honors after making impressive saves.
On the girls All-Region roster, East Coweta defenders Katie Sutherland joined MVP teammate Grant on the All-Region 2-AAAAA. Three Newnan defenders Grace Gresham, Lauren Hovey abd Mary Brooks Gallagher were also on the squad.
East Coweta’s Taylor McDermott, Anna Lauzon and Carley Craft made the All-Region squad as midfielders. Julie Whatley and Anna Lawrence from Newnan also made the team.
Among forwards, East Coweta Nikki Brandley, Serenity Waters and Newnan Jordan Ponce were named All-Region.
East Coweta’s goalie Kristen Jones joined Whitlock on the Region 2-AAAAA team among goalkeepers.
