* Newnan Crossing Elementary School, 1267 Lower Fayetteville Road, Newnan, was inspected Oct. 14. Current score, 97, A. Previous score, 98, A. Inspector's comments: Hot water not working at hand wash sink in dish area. Dumpster needs plug. Dead insects in light shield inside storage room. Clean vent grate around walk-in cooler fan.

* Applebee's, 971 Bullsboro Drive, Newnan, was inspected Oct. 15. Current score, 91, A. Previous score, 86, B. Inspector's comments: Employee drinking from open glass. Open glass stored on clean dish rack. Employee's drink needs lid and straw in a single-service cup. Need qa sanitizer test strips. Shield exposed bulb inside walk-in freezer. Clean drop area of ice machine. Split gaskets on cooler door/freezer door. Cracked scoop. Employee wearing watch on arm -- employees must not wear arm or hand jewelry except one smooth ring such as wedding band.
