Murray Tilles of Light of Messiah Ministries in Atlanta will speak at Line Creek Baptist Church on Sunday.
Tilles will speak about how the current Middle East conflict ties into biblical prophecy at 8:45 and 11 a.m. His topic at 6 p.m. will be "The Gospel in the Jewish Fall Feasts."
"Believing in Jesus is a very Jewish thing," Tilles said. "In fact, it is the most Jewish thing that anyone can do. He is the Jewish Messiah."
The current conflict in the Middle East did not begin last year or the year before. The conflict is part of a much larger one that began thousands of years ago -- one which Tilles will explain in "Israel and the Middle East in Conflict."
According to Tilles, the Jewish festivals program will reveal God's purpose in commanding Israel to celebrate the Feast of Trumpets, the Day of Atonement, and the Feast of Tabernacles. He said the festivals show how God's plan for the world to be saved through Jesus is foreshadowed in the Jewish Fall Feasts.
"Many Christians have heard of the Jewish Fall Feasts, since they are discussed in the New Testament. Yet most Christians are unaware of the significance of these holidays. The early Christians, especially Paul and the apostles, celebrated these Jewish holidays," he said.
"They are a part of our heritage as Christians, but a heritage that has been lost."
Tilles said Jesus is the fulfillment of the annual Yom Kippur sacrifice. "In the story of Yom Kippur, we leam of a scapegoat, on whose head the sins of the people are confessed. The goat is taken away from the camp so as never to return," he explained.
"Jesus is foreshadowed by the scapegoat," Tilles said. "Our sins were placed on him and taken away forever."
