Mitchell pens spiritual memoir
Stephen Mitchell of Senoia has written a spiritual memoir that was published earlier this year.
"Yes, You Can: Rise from the Wreckage" stems from an event that happened in 1988 when -- as the author describes it -- Satan tried to end his life. Mitchell, then a high school student, was on the way home from his Junior Prom, when he had a near-fatal car accident.
Mitchell was not expected to live. After spending two months in a coma, however, he woke up. He then went through several months of intensive therapy.
After being released from the hospital in November 1988, Mitchell went on to graduate East Coweta High School with his class in 1989. He went on to State University of West Georgia where he graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in psychology in 1997.
Along the way Mitchell met Jesus Christ, and God gave Mitchell the power to use this broken and frail body for God's glory.
"As you read this book, it is my prayer that you will look beyond your circumstances, and fix your eyes on Jesus Christ," Mitchell said.
The author was born in 1971 and is a former resident of Hapeville. His parents are James Edward Mitchell and Beverly Louise Mitchell.
