Coat collection for homeless underway through Nov. 22

A coat drive is being conducted in Coweta County by Soldiers of the Cross, Inc.

The dropoff location for coats is Crossroads Chiropractic on Highway 34 near Thomas Crossroads. The goal of the drive is to gather new or gently worn coats, scarfs, mittens, hats, insulated underwear, sleeping bags and blankets. The items will go to the homeless and under housed in the downtown Atlanta area.

For the last nine years Soldiers of the Cross volunteers -- thanks to the generosity of local churches and individuals -- have been able to bless many people who truly need such items.

The distribution is always the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Donors who drop items at the clinic will receive a Health Pass Gift Certificate to the clinic for $200.

"I want to help the community by getting coats in the hands of the needy," Dr. Matthew Davis said. "Our goal is to hand out 200 coats to needy families. We look forward to inspiring the community to a higher level of health by assisting needy families."

The collection will be held through Nov. 22.
