Churches to collect dollar bills for One Roof on Aug. 24

Many church members will be taking an extra dollar with them to church next Sunday.

Harvey Fuller, who served as pastor of several Baptist churches in the area, came up with the idea for asking each church member in the county to give $1 to help One Roof Ecumenical Alliance Outreach. One Roof was formed by a coalition of area churches to address a wide range of needs.

Currently, One Roof is working with other groups, churches and agencies in an effort to find a solution to a growing problem of homelessness.

Several area pastors have already agreed to have a collection on Aug. 24. The idea is for each person to contribute a dollar. Fuller noted that is the cost of one soft drink. Church services provide a time when people are coming together and thinking about doing God's work.

Churches that participate in the project may send their donations to One Roof, P. O. Box 916, Newnan, GA 30264.
