Composer Sorenson to visit Central

A Composer Workshop Weekend with Heather Sorenson will be held Aug. 17-18 at Central Baptist Church.

The weekend will include a worship concert on Aug. 18 at 10:55 a.m. Sorenson, a gifted pianist, has been described by composer Lloyd Larson as one of the most talented “up-and-coming” young artists in church music.

Diversity is a characteristic that marks Sorenson’s compositions. Initially recognized for her skill as a pianist, she is now known for her choral anthems, piano collections, a children’s series and orchestrations.

Sorenson’s style diversity is also apparent as she easily maneuvers both traditional and contemporary music.
