Children's music planned for Mother's Day at Central

by Staff Reports

A presentation of music by youngsters will be part of the Mother’s Day celebration at Central Baptist Church -- and the start of a week filled with children’s music.

The Music Friends Choir, ages 4-5, will sing in worship at 10:55 a.m. on Mother’s Day. Children will wear their choir robes and rehearse prior to the service. A Parent-Child Dedication will also be part of the service, and there will be a special offering for the Georgia Baptist Children’s Homes and Family Ministries.

Two children’s musical programs will be held on Wednesday. “Jesus Loves Us!” will be presented by the Music Makers, grades 1-2, at 6:30 p.m. The mini-musical is packed with fun songs many learned as children about Jesus’ love for everyone.

Also at 6:30 p.m., “Know Your Hymnal” will be presented by the Young Musicians. The mini-musical will be packed with all-you-need-to-know information about Central’s sanctuary hymnal, and the children will sing special arrangements of favorite hymns.

Dr. Loyd Allen spoke at Central on May 1 and again on May 8. Allen is the Sylvan Hills Baptist Church Professor of Church History and Spiritual Formation at Mercer University’s McAfee School of Theology.

Allen presented two brief lectures on Celtic spirituality.
