Mt. Vernon has full calendar of events

Mt. Vernon First Baptist Church will hold its Spring Revival from Tuesday-Thursday.

Services will start at 7 p.m., according to Donna Freeland. Preaching for the services will be -- Tuesday, Robert Chapman; Wednesday, Reuben Simpson; and Thursday, Jackie Banks.

Chapman is pastor of Greater Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, and Simpson pastors Mt. Zion Community Church in Franklin. Banks serves as pastor of New Zion Baptist Church.

Mt. Vernon will also hold a Youth Explosion! on April 27 at 5 p.m. This will be a concert of local youth choirs, soloists and praise dancers. 

Youth Day will be celebrated at the 11 a.m. service on April 28.

On May 19, Duncan E. Chamblin Sr. will bring the message for the Deacon Board Anniversary service, which will begin at 3 p.m. Chamblin is pastor of St. John Baptist Church. “An invitation is extended to all to join us,” Freeland said.

The church will be celebrating 150 years of service on June 9. Toney Mosely of Woods Memorial Baptist Church in College Park is scheduled to bring the message for that milestone celebration. Freeland said more information on the 150th anniversary will be announced later.
