Spring Fling set today at Turin UMC

by Staff Reports

Turin United Methodist Church will hold a Spring Fling today.

The event will be from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Organizers hope to make the event an annual one.

The Spring Fling will be “a day of food, fun and activities,” said Griff Jones, pastor of the church. “All our activities will be outdoors with booths set up on the front lawn by the railroad tracks.”

The event will include free barbecue sandwiches, beef hot dogs, potato chips, iced tea and water.

Items for sale will include soft drinks and homemade bake goods. Jones said there also will be “Girl Scout cookies and popcorn served by our Boy Scout troop.”

Activities will include an inflatable Moon Walk, children’s games and activities, Red Neck Golf, Corn Hole toss games and horseshoes.

The Eastside Elementary School Chorus will be performing at 2 p.m., and there will be other music filling the air during the day.

The event will also offer “a place for you and your family to pray together or alone with someone if you want to,” Jones said.

“Our purpose for this first annual Spring Fling is to just move the church out beyond its walls and to have fun with our community – and to show Christ to the world and community through our lives.”
