Couch is new pastor at Trinity Baptist
by Staff Reports
Kevin Couch has been called as pastor at Trinity Baptist Church.
Couch succeeds Rick Duncan, who served the church for 33 years. “I consider it a privilege to serve as the pastor of Trinity Baptist Church,” Couch said.
Couch and his wife, Julie, joined Trinity in 1988. “Both our children – Amber and Autumn – were born during our time here. They were both saved and baptized here at Trinity as well as Julie,” he said.
Couch started working with Trinity’s youth in 1995 and became youth director in 2006.
“I preached as a lay preacher for about five years, and then answered the call to preach on March 9, 2010. I was ordained in August 2010 as pastor of the youth and served in that capacity until October 2012, when asked to serve as interim pastor,” Couch said.
“I have felt the hand of God working in my life to bring me to this point,” Couch said.
Couch expressed thanks to Duncan for his “faithful service to the Lord.” He also talked about what Duncan has meant in his own spiritual journey.
“My pastor has taught me so much, and his training has prepared me for the service to which I’ve been called,” Couch said.
“It has been a great honor for me to pastor Trinity Baptist Church for the past 33 years. It sees like only yesterday that the church called me and my family,” Duncan said.
“I have had the pleasure of watching my family – as well as so many other families – grow in the Lord,” said Duncan.
Duncan will now be Trinity’s pastor emeritus. “I pray that I can be a help to the church as well as our pastor,” Duncan said.
Couch “is God’s man for the church,” Duncan said. “I so look forward to continuing my service for the Lord.”
“I look forward to serving the church and community as God leads,” Couch concluded.
