VBS resumes after July 4 break

by W. Winston Skinner

Area churches took a break from Vacation Bible School during the week of July 4, but several churches have planned Bible School programs for the coming week.

Other churches are planning VBS for later this month. Luthersville Baptist Church will be holding a one-day Bible School.

“Vacation Bible School will be held on Saturday, July 19 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m.,” Shelly Smith said.”There will be games, stories, arts and crafts for a full day of fun.”

The VBS theme at Luthersville Baptist will be “The Ten Commandments: Rules to Live By.” For information, contact Smith at 678-793-7574 or shellytsmith1954@yahoo.com.

Pleasant Hill Baptist Church near Senoia is making plans for a Day Camp on July 21. The program will start at 9 a.m.

First Presbyterian Church in Peachtree City’s Vacation Bible School involved more than 100 children and 50 volunteers. “The theme this year was Jungle Safari, where kids explored the nature of God,” Carolyn Gulick said.

“The week of fun, fellowship and worship was also a week of community outreach for the church. Children attending VBS donated a school supply each day for the children at Oak Grove Elementary School,” Gulick said.

The donated supplies were placed in backpacks that were donated by the First Presbyterian congregation. VBS programs on the calendar for the next week are:
