The choir from Westside Baptist Church will be featured on an upcoming DVD with some of the best known names in gospel music.

On June 29, the local choir was honored to perform with Phil Cross, Squire Parsons, Gerald Crabb and Mark Bishop. The choir sang with the singers in the newest Song of a Lifetime DVD taping.

The four popular Southern Baptist songwriters and musicians chose Newnan’s Westside Choir because they felt the spirit in which the songs were written would be well displayed.

Cross is noted for songs such as “One Holy Lamb,” “I Am Redeemed” and “Champion of Love.” Parsons has many songs attributed to him, but his most popular is “Beulah Land.”

Crabb is the father of the popular Crabb Family, and he has written many songs for them and other artists. During the taping he performed “Through the Fire” and “Hold Me While I Cry” — usually performed by Karen Peck.

Bishop is known for many songs including “You Can’t Ask Too Much of my God” and “My Name is Jesus.”
