Christian City participates in statewide tornado drill

Christian City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center was involved in a Disaster Training Drill simulating a tornado strike.

The exercise was part of disaster preparedness drills happening in hospitals and nursing facilities all over the state. “Safety of their residents is a top priority for Christian City,” said Heidi Becker, the organization’s director of marketing and development.

Becker said the drill helps Christian City’s leaders “discover areas needing improvement and to prepare staff and residents for a real emergency in the future.”

Founded in 1962, Christian City provides health care and residential services to active seniors and the elderly offering a full continuum of care. Often referred to as “a city within a city,” Christian City boasts more than 1,000 people living in approximately 100 buildings on a 500-acre campus.

Christian City’s oldest ministry is to abandoned and abused children living in cottages at The Children’s Village.
