Oktoberfest brought German flavored fun to the celebration of autumn at St. George Catholic Church.
The celebration actually took place a couple of days early -- on Sept. 29. Oktoberfest is an annual event at St. George’s and is sponsored by the Knights of Columbus Council 6622.
“More than 200 adults and children enjoyed the festivities,” according to Roland Roger. “Authentic German food and desserts, complemented by Warsteiner beer and Riesling wine, were appreciated by all adults. Entertainment, including dance contests and prizes, was hosted by Joe Cebulski.”
Oktoberfest offered activities for all ages. “This was a family activity,” Roger said. There was an 18-foot slide for the children. There also were door prizes with lucky winners walking away with $50 door prize each.
Roger said the Knights plan to hold Oktoberfest again in 2013. “Look for our event next year in late September,” he said. “The public is always welcomed.”
