Coat, blanket drive under way at Perpetual Community

Perpetual Community Resource Centre is putting together plans for a winter coat and blanket drive.
“Although winters in Newnan are normally mild, there has been a pattern of unseasonably cold weather in the southern states over the past few years,” noted Kimberly Monroe, PCRC executive director. “This has raised the need for warm coats and blankets in the Newnan community by those who do not have and cannot afford them.”
“You can make a difference in the lives of those less fortunate by giving the gift of warmth,” she said.
The coat and blanket drive began Oct. 15 and runs through Dec. 3. Blankets and coats will be distributed Dec. 16 during PRCC’s Warm Hearts Christmas Dinner.
“This program will serve those who are homeless, low-income seniors, adults with disabilities and families with children,” Monroe said.
“All you have to do is gather new or gently-used blankets and coats in the box that we will provide. Then call to make arrangements for us to pick them up,” she said.
