Bishop to lead American religion talk at St. Paul's

Frank K. Allan, Episcopal bishop of Atlanta, will lead Religion in America, a Sunday forum at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.
The event will be held Oct. 14 at 9:15 a.m. The church will also be holding the annual blessing of the animals that afternoon at 5 p.m.
Stewardship Sunday at St. Paul’s will be Oct. 28. A Reformation Sunday Ecumenical Service will be held Oct. 28 at 3 p.m.
On Oct. 14, Allan will lead in discussion of three visions of religion in America – the Puritans and the Holy Commonwealth, the Founders and the Enlightenment and Episcopalians and the Ark of Salvation.
There will be a brief historical overview exploring facts and myths about the American religious experience from Plymouth to the Civil War. Prior to the gathering, some participants will be reading “American Gospel” by Jon Meacham and “Roger Williams and the Creation of the American Soul” by John Barry.
