Pray 31 urging prayers throughout October

From Staff Reports
Christian Endeavor International has announced the launch of Pray31, an initiative to enlist one million people in prayer for America.
Pray31 will take place during the month of October in churches and Christian groups nationwide. For 31 days, thousands of congregations across the denominational spectrum will be engaged in this highly focused prayer effort.
On Sept. 6, CEI President Tim Eldred described the core purpose of the initiative:
“Our nation needs so much at this time, but there’s nothing we need more than prayer. The solutions we seek are spiritual, not political; and Pray31 is a response to the overwhelming weight of the issues facing America. We must call out to God in prayer because only with his empowerment and blessing can we meet these challenges successfully.”
The Pray31 strategy centers on a key resource, the U.S. Prayer Atlas – a booklet that guides the user on a one-month journey of prayer. It is called an atlas because it covers via specific prayer requests all 50 states and all U.S. territories. The U.S. Prayer Atlas also includes a wealth of other features.

Members of local churches and Christian groups who participate in Pray31 agree to spend a few minutes each day praying for items on the daily lists in the Atlas. Although done on an individual basis, it is believed that a collective benefit will result from this unified, simultaneous, coast-to-coast effort.

Pray31 was inspired by Pray21, a youth-oriented prayer initiative that originated with Christian Endeavor International – the first organization in America dedicated to training youth for ministry and mission. Since 1881, the lives of millions of teens have been spiritually shaped through the influence of the Christian Endeavor movement. Today, the ministry continues to expand internationally and is now experiencing a great resurgence in the United States.
