College musicians Bryan and Terry Hinkemeyer and Olivia Brown will present Music for a Summer Evening at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church on Sunday.
The concert will start at 7 p.m. All three are music majors at Jacksonville State University and will be sharing music from their study repertoire as well as music used in worship.
They will be accompanied by Nancy Lewis, the church’s music director, on organ and piano. There will be a reception in the parish hall following the program.
On the Day of Pentecost, May 27, worshippers at St. Paul’s were encouraged to wear red, the color associated with the flames of the Holy Spirit which filled the faithful on the first Pentecost.
At the Pentecost service, Holy Baptism was administered to Collin Michael Rayfield, Ariel Elise McCollough, Micah Marrell McCollough Jr. and Eli James McCollough. The four are the church’s newest members.
Pentecost is often considered the birthday of the Church, and birthday cake and lemonade were served on the lawn at St. Paul’s after the May 27 service.
