Easter festivities held at Providence church

Providence Baptist Church, located on Summers-McKoy Road, celebrated the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus during a program on Easter Sunday.
The participants who were listed on the Easter program paraded into the sanctuary. The occasion, Scripture and prayer were delivered by Louise Gibson.
Readings were – “Easter Bells” by Taren Brown, “Easter” by Arik Lenon, “Christ Arose” by Brantley Richardson and “Jesus Loves Us” by Iris Richardson. A medley of Easter songs was performed by Trey Brittian.
Recitations were – “An Easter Message” by Haleigh Horsley, “The Empty Tomb” by Tristan Powell and “Happy Easter Day” by Kensley Sewell.
A praise dance was performed by Metria Brittian. She performed to a song titled “I Gave Myself Away.”
Inspiration Easter songs were sung – “The Old Rugged Cross” by Rickey Powell and “At the Cross” by the congregation, accompanied by Doris Wood.
Encouraging and inspirational remarks and the benediction were give by Dr. Melvin D. Brittian Jr., the pastor of Providence. Dorothy Lenon was the mistress of ceremonies for the Easter program.

An Easter egg hunt was enjoyed by the children following the program. Easter baskets were given to the program participants.

Louise Gibson, Dorothy Lenon and Doris Powell were the chairpersons for the Easter festivities at Providence.
