Heatherwood Baptist Church's Student Ministry held a 2012 Chili Cook-Off on March 5 to mark the last big football game of the season.
Nearly 100 spectators watched an afternoon flag football contest between Heatherwood students against church adults on the church lawn. An indoor tailgating party followed with games and attractions in the Heatherwood gym, followed by a feast of nearly 35 assorted chili dishes prepared by the Student Ministry.
At the magic hour of 6 p.m., Heatherwood's Contemporary Worship Center was opened to all to watch the Big Game on two big-screen TVs . Co-winners for best chili were Kelsey Cooper and Makayla Krilla, both of whom were awarded $100 gift certificates.
David Sexton, Elijah Sleigh and Jim Spradlin were judges for the chili competition.
Barry Williams, Heatherwood's Student Minister, organized the day's events. "The young folks did a great job, proving you can have a great time praising God through a time of fellowship and worship," he noted.
