The Field of Dreams Festival will be held in Lone Oak on June 2, and the festival offers something rare — an opportunity for people to sell art, crafts and other items at no cost.
Vendors who participate and “want to make a donation” can, said organizer Ann Johnson, but they do not have to contribute. The festival is being sponsored by Allen-Lee Memorial United Methodist Church and will be held on the Field of Dreams the church now owns next to the historic church building.
Church members see the festival primarily as an outreach to the community. In a time when many have been negatively impacted by the economic downtown, the festival offers an opportunity for people to have a good time, see friends and make some money.
“It can be anything from a yard sale, to arts, crafts,” said Johnson, who chairs the committee that is planning the event.
The festival will be held from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. The Meriwether Adults Serving Kids Club will be selling boiled peanuts and chicken finger plates. The club, which provides opportunities for Meriwether County children and youth, will also sell sausage biscuits for early arrivals and vendors.
Church members will be mounting a yard sale, a bake sale and a silent auction. The youth will be selling hot dogs. Face painting will be part of the fun, and already committed vendors include one bringing sports memorabilia.

Vendors will provide their own tables, chairs and displays. Electricity is not available in the Field of Dreams.

People interested in participating need to contact Ann Johnson at 770-927-6440. “We have a limited amount of space,” she said.
