Yoga event to benefit One Roof

A benefit, "Yoga in the Park for a Cause!" on Sept. 18 will raise funds for the charity efforts of One Roof outreach in Newnan.

The event will run from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Newnan city park at Temple Avenue and Jackson Street.

Those wishing to participate should bring a mat, a towel, a cushion, or chair. There is no fee to participate, but donations will be accepted in support of One Roof. All of the donations collected will be given to One Roof, said organizers.

"Yoga in the Park for a Cause" is part of the Global Yoga Event called the "Global Mala Project for Peace." Crossing the borders of cultures, religions, politics and race, the yoga communities around the world unite to raise awareness for peace and compassion towards mankind by raising money for charitable organizations.

Ancient of Days Yoga Center is hosting this year's Global Mala Project in the Newnan area in support of One Roof, a local non-profit charitable organization. One Roof is an alliance of churches of different denominations, along with community organizations and businesses. Through their joint efforts they try to help meet the needs of those struggling here in Coweta County.

In the first segment participants can choose to participate in either gentle yoga, power yoga or in Tai Chi. Following that segment, there will be pranayama (breathing exercises) and meditation.
