Woman, 38, faces charge of statutory rape of teen

A 38-year-old Newnan woman was arrested Tuesday for allegedly sodomizing a 15-year-old male.

Stephanie Arlyne Der of 138 Southwind Lane is charged with felony statutory rape/cruelty to child, according to Major James Yarbrough of the Coweta County Sheriff's Office.

Investigators reportedly learned of the alleged crime earlier this year when the victim made an outcry of allegations against Der, a medical assistant to a chiropractor.

The rape allegedly occurred more than once, though authorities are still investigating how long the reported sexual abuse had been taking place, according to Yarbrough.

Investigators don't know yet whether Der will face additional charges.
