Wind Advisory still in effect, Freeze Warning cancelled

FROM STAFF REPORTS

NEWS@NEWNAN.COM

The National Weather Service in Peachtree City still has a Wind Advisory in effect until 8 p.m. Tuesday for most of north and central Georgia, including Coweta County.

An earlier Freeze Warning issued by the NWS for Coweta, Carroll, Heard and Fayette Counties has been cancelled.

The combination of Hurricane Sandy along the Atlantic coast and high pressure building south from Canada has resulted in strong, gusty winds across the area since Monday and will continue through Tuesday.

Winds will be from the Northwest at 15 to 25 mph, with gusts up to 40.

These strong winds will make driving difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles.

At 6:30 p.m. today, the Newnan Times-Herald Weather Station recorded a temperature of 51 degrees. Winds were from the West gusting to 9 mph, with a peak gust of 26 mph since midnight.
