Employees of Atlanta Gas Light's (AGL) Newnan and Carrollton Service Centers are doing their part to help homeless children and women.
Local volunteers put together 300 boxes for The United Way of Metro Atlanta's Shoebox Project, which helps support children and women living in area homeless shelters.
United Way Regional Director Catherine Owens came to AGL Resources' West Georgia Region office in Villa Rica to accept the 300 shoeboxes, designated for shelters in Carroll, Coweta, Douglas and Paulding Counties.
Newnan and Carrollton had full office participation for this event, with some AGL employees collecting supplies and others making donations to purchase supplies.
In total, United Way of Metro Atlanta collected more than 18,000 shoeboxes for the project.
