A pedestrian struck on Tommy Lee Cook Road Sunday was listed in stable condition at Atlanta Medical Center Monday afternoon, according to a spokesperson.
The accident occurred at noon Sunday near George Wynn Road. The victim, Freddy Dyer, 58, was walking along the eastbound side of Tommy Lee Cook Road as 29-year-old Matthew Scott Ivester was traveling east in a 2005 Mitsubishi Lancer ES.
According to the accident report furnished by the Georgia State Patrol, the pedestrian didn't see the approaching car and stepped into its path.
The driver reportedly swerved to the left to attempt to avoid the collision but could not, according to Trooper J. Homer.
The victim, who was semiconscious at the scene, was transported to the hospital by helicopter ambulance.
