Mary Ellen Hunter Key Spearman
1923-2009
Mary Ellen Spearman, 86, of Senoia, Ga., died on Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009, at Avalon Health & Rehabilitation. She was born on April 25, 1923 in Turin, Ga., to the late Sidney Richard & Nancy Elizabeth Young Hunter.
Mary Ellen's working years began at Moreland Hosiery Mill then at Hi Brand Foods, where she retired after 25 years of service. After retiring, she returned to work at the McDonald's on U.S. Highway 29 South, where she was widely known as the Greeter and Bingo host. She was a lifelong member of White Oak Presbyterian Church. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother & sister.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Woodrow Key; second husband, Henry Spearman; and brothers, John Richard Hunter, Jacob Thompson Hunter, Joseph Young Hunter.
The funeral service is Saturday at 11 a.m. at White Oak Associate Reform Presbyterian Church on Gordon Road. Rev. Rabun Williams & Rev. Tom Shoger will officiate. The family will receive visitors at McKoon Funeral Home on Friday evening from 5 until 8 p.m. For anyone who would like to visit with the family outside of the funeral home, they will be gathering at the Hunter Cabin. She is survived by daughter, Nancy Key Williams; grand-daughter, Rachael Lindsey Williams; sister, Betty Hunter Rogers; brother, Vernon "Mutt" (Sue) Hunter; step-children, Larry Spearman, Harry Spearman, Joann Shackleford; sisters-in-law, Liz Hunter, Frances Key; brothers-in-law, J.D. Key, Earnest Key; and many nieces & nephews.
