Mr. Thomas Broadwater

Mr. Thomas Broadwater, 17, of Newnan, Ga., died Monday, June 8, 2009, at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston of complications associated with his Cystic Fibrosis.

Thomas was a member of Andrews Chapel United Methodist Church in Newnan.

Thomas was an Honors Student at Northgate High School, where he had just completed his junior year. His passion in his education was technology, where he particularly excelled in math, robotics and computers. He was a member of the National Honor Society, Beta Club, Academic Bowl, and also a math tutor to his fellow students. He was also involved in many community programs. He was chosen to participate in the Governor's Honors Technology program as a sophomore, a true honor. He was also a student at the Central Educational Center where he was captain of the BEST Robotics team that finished second place in the state competition.

The funeral is Saturday, June 13 at 11 a.m. at Newnan First United Methodist Church, 33 Greenville St., with Rev. Jim Dixon, Dr. David Campbell, & Rev. Jay Hodges officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The visitation is Friday evening between 6 and 8 p.m. at McKoon Funeral Home, 38 Jackson St., Newnan, GA. Rather than flowers, the family has asked that memorial contributions be made to either Andrews Chapel United Methodist Church Building Fund, 4301 Roscoe Rd., Newnan, GA 30263, or to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, www.cff.org , 2302 Parklake Drive, Suite 210, Atlanta, GA 30345.

He is survived by his parents, Alan & Judy Broadwater of Newnan; sister, Allison Broadwater; grandparents, Ralph & Patsy Broadwater of Cragford, AL, Rev. Horace Couch of Newnan.

He was an inspiration to all the lives he touched. He will be greatly missed by all.
