Mr. Billy Beall

Mr. William "Billy" Beall, of Woodland, Ala., passed away on Aug. 4, 2008, at Pine Knoll Nursing Home. He was 87. Mr. Beall was born on April 14, 1921, in Meriwether County, Ga., the son of the late Henley and Maude Beall. He was a veteran of WWII, and for his service received the Distinguished Flying Cross and Oak Clusters. Mr. Beall continued to serve in the military for four more years after WWII ended. Of all his memories of his military service, one that he spoke most fondly of was being the personal driver for his commanding officer, future President Ronald Reagan. After returning home, Mr. Beall went to work for and retired from the maintenance department at the University of West Georgia. Mr. Beall enjoyed the outdoors, was an avid hunter and fisherman, and a loyal Braves fan.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Lawrence Beall, Buddy Beall and Dorsey Beall. Survivors include his wife, Margie Beall; son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Valerie Beall of Woodland, AL; daughters and sons-in-law, Beverly and Buddy Ward of Newnan, GA, Judy and Aaron Proctor of Dallas, GA, and Johnnie and David Samples of Carrollton, GA; sisters, Frances Robinson of Hogansville, GA, Grace Davis of Newnan, GA, Jackie White of Hogansville, GA, and Margie Gordon, also of Hogansville, GA; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Hazel Morgan, Mack and Linda Huddleston, Kermit and Willene Huddleston, and Zera Beall; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mr. Billy Beall will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 6 at 11 a.m. (Georgia Time) at Bethel East Baptist Church in Woodland, AL. Rev. E.K. Herren will officiate and Mr. Johnathon Samples will offer a eulogy. Music will be furnished by Mrs. Jeanette Rogers. David Gordon, Randy Ables, Mike Ables, Isriel Samples, Jeremy Morgan, Chad Moseley, Shannon Proctor and Brian Anderson will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Lorie Dionne, Lisa Crawford, Jody Moseley, Chi Anderson, Vickie Cason, Dina Shumake. Interment will be held at Gray Hill Church of God with Rev. Gordon Harrington performing the graveside services.
