Both Newnan High and Northgate High celebrated Homecoming 2012 on Friday night.

At Newnan's Drake Stadium, Jodia Ingram was crowned as the Newnan High School Homecoming Queen during halftime festivities. And on the gridiron, the Newnan Cougars cruised to an easy 38-7 victory over visiting Hardaway.

Newnan scored touchdowns on four of its first five series and took a commanding 35-0 lead at the half on its way to the win. The Cougar defense only allowed Hardaway past midfield twice to improve to 4-1 on the season.

At Henry Seldon Field, Northgate's Kaylee Mappin was selected as its Homecoming Queen also during halftime ceremonies. The Northgate Vikings saw a two-game winning streak end as Union Grove spoiled the evening with a 23-0 victory.

Union Grove used a ball-control offense, led by tailback Derrick Craine, and jumped out to an early 14-0 lead which essentially set the tone for the game. Craine rushed for an impressive 184 yards on 27 carries and limited Northgate's offensive possessions in the Viking loss.
