By GINA L. SNIDER

City of Newnan Public Information Officer

The city of Newnan Building Department has received plans for Monkey Joe's Play and Parties to be located in Ashley Park.

It will be located near Med Spa. The kid-friendly facility will be 13,800 square feet. Monkey Joe's is all about kids having fun, jumping, sliding and playing in the best indoor playground. Kids come first and parents are a close second. Monkey Joe's is also about keeping kids healthy. They guarantee to burn off that excess energy before they leave Monkey Joe's. Rain or shine, there is not a better place to bring your kids than Monkey Joe's. It is the perfect place to come inside and still feel like your kids are getting all the fun of being outside.

Start off the New Year right with a tip from the Keep Newnan Beautiful campaign, Cynthia Gill-Wall reminds everyone about the Adopt-A-Street program. Why not start off the New Year by adopting a city street? Residents, local businesses and other civic groups can join the program. The program provides opportunities to collect litter and clean up sections of streets within the city of Newnan. The program has been used successfully by state and local organizations throughout the country. This program is a great way to support a cleaner world!

The city of Newnan will post an Adopt-A-Street sign with the groups' name at both ends of the adopted street section. The city will also provide trash bags and plastic gloves to use at the cleanups. The city collects the bags and other collected litter after cleanups.

The city of Newnan Animal Warden wants to wish everyone a Happy New Year and with the New Year, please remember to check the date on your rabies vaccination for your pets.

Most vaccinations are good for 1 year and it is important for you to renew this shot.

Also, remember to display the tag on the collar of your pet and to put the paperwork in a safe place so if the tag becomes lost, you can call your vet and get a replacement tag.

Check the doghouse to make sure there are no leaks and put fresh bedding down (preferably straw) and check the collars, chains and latches for any wear and tear that could cause these items to break. This could cause your pet to run loose and get lost. Also, check the fencing for any holes in and under your fence.

Let's make 2009 a year pets stay safely secured in yards and homes.

The city of Newnan continues its support for the Clean Water Campaign with a tip from the Engineering Department to remind everyone to properly dispose of your pet's waste. By picking up after your pet, you are doing your part to keep contaminates out of our rivers, lakes and streams.

Please pick up after pets whether you are walking your dog around the neighborhood or in your own back yard. Pet waste contains as many as 75 diseases and viruses that may make our water unsafe.

For more information, please go to www.cleanwatercampaign.org. To report any illegal dumping, please call the City of Newnan Environmental Hotline at 770-253-1823.
