New developers are making plans at the Fischer Crossings property, located at the intersection of Fischer Road and Ga. Hwys. 34/54 in eastern Coweta.
The property owner is still listed as Synovus Bank, but Fischer Partners LLC have made applications to Coweta County for a rezoning and the amendment of some conditions of the previous zoning.
The previous owners, Fischer Crossing Development Group, lost the property to foreclosure.
Tuesday night, the Coweta County Board of Commissioners voted to set public hearings on the requests for Dec. 18.
In the agenda materials, the members of Fischer Partners are listed as Tom Abernathy, Steve Gaultney, Richard Swope and Ronnie DeThomas, with an address of 1505 Lakes Parkway, Lawrenceville. But the property owner is still listed as Synovus, the bank that foreclosed on the property.
The proposed amendments are several technical changes, including text to allow requests for variances and reducing the 50-foot landscape/building setback between the site formerly proposed for a Kohl's and the loop road from 50 feet to 15 feet.
The planning department is recommending approval of the amendments to the zoning conditions.
The other request is to rezone the northern portion of the proposed loop road from Rural Conservation to C7, Commercial Major Shopping Center. That matches the zoning of the surrounding property.
According to the rezoning application, "originally Kohl's did not want to own this portion of the Loop Road. Now that one developer is owning the whole project and developing it as one master development, it makes sense to have the whole project be the same zoning. From a developer's standpoint it makes sense to rezone this portion of the proposed development since it is supporting the retail portion of the project."
There was no discussion of the applications during Tuesday's commission meeting; the commissioners simply approved the setting of the public hearing.
