So many audacious events occur every day all over the world that, in the future -- if we are not already there -- we may no longer be astounded at anything that happens.
Even now, it is difficult for some to separate the odd from the usual everyday happenings of life.
The old saying I first heard in my college days could apply to many of us: "Everyone is a bit odd but you and me, and I sometime have my doubts about you."
For example, a landlord in a Tennessee town, anxious to get rid of tenant relatives living in a house he owned, went out while they were gone and tried to burn it down.
Returning from vacation, they probably said: "Well, we can take a hint. Something tells us he no longer wants us in his house, and if he is going to act like this, we need to consider moving on."
I guess you could call this, "A house warming in reverse." The owner desired to warmly welcome their departure.
Whatever else can be said, it is apparent the landlord wanted to make it too hot for them.
To say the least, being "burned out" is worse than the usual eviction notice.
Foreclosure on a home is terrible, but to have your home foreburned while you are gone is a bad situation.
